Poetry for a
King
was created in July
2007
. The four members live in rural central Texas but the
band originated in Manchaca. They pursue a solid Christian rock genre but at
times will back off to the sweet sounds of mellow piano chords and
echoing blues guitar licks. These deeply intimate songs sung and written by Carl Harper put
their listeners in a reflective mood of praise, but keeps their audiences
dancing and swaying.
In July 2008 they released their first
5-track EP, simply titled “Poetry for a King”.
The band has played at local church services, small music
venues and youth festivals almost every chance possible over the last
year. They opened a show for the Stillpoint Band CD release party at the Nutty
Brown Cafe on May 25, 2008 for a crowd of 800 people. With new songs on
the way in the studio in the fall of 2008, these poets are ready to introduce
themselves to a larger audience. From guitar lines and drum riffs that
are relaxing to the soul, to passionate driving vocals with harmonies, Poetry
for a King inspires you to stand up, let go and feel the
love.
